December Roundup

Happy New Year Everyone!

December is that month that comes and goes in a flash. Before you know it the New Year is here and Christmas is over for another year.

So what did I get up to in December?

December started with a visit home to Sheffield to spend some time with my Mum. I was there for 4 days. It was so nice to be able to spend some quality time at home and visit Meadowhall, the shopping centre there. Meadowhall is so much better than West Quay but I actually didn’t find anything to buy!! Typical!

Coffee

A much needed coffee whilst shopping.

Blogwise I completed a Christmas Haul series of posts. I worked hard on these and liked how the pictures turned out.

Christmas Haul

December also had my work Christmas Party. It was at Saint Mary’s Stadium. The venue was nice but the room was hotter than hell which made it an uncomfortable evening! I did my second attempt at gel nails for it and added nail glitter. I was pleased with how they turned out.

Gel Nails

We went and met up with some friends from Sheffield who were en route to visit family for Christmas. We’d originally planned to meet in Costa Coffee (of course) but with it being Christmas Eve they closed at 3pm to enable them to set up for their Boxing Day sale! We went to Starbucks instead which meant I got to try their Toffee Nut Latte. It was beautiful.

Starbucks Toffee Nut Latte

Christmas was spent at home and was a quiet affair just the way I like it. Since then I’ve been trying to be good and have been out for a walk or a bike ride almost every day. I am a bad blogger though and haven’t actually taken any pictures whilst I’ve been out!! FAIL!

I hope you’ve all had a good December.  If you feel you’ve missed any of my posts through December, here they are below:

November Roundup

Please tell me it’s not just me that thinks November has passed in the blink of an eye? And now here we are approaching December and Christmas at break neck speed!! So, before November completely disappears here’s what I got up to.

Christmas cups arrived at Costa! I love these, the Christmas cups are designed to look like Christmas jumpers. It’s like your cup has a Christmas jumper on to keep your coffee/hot chocolate warm. So far I’ve tried the Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate and the Mint Hot Chocolate. Has to be said both taste divine. I’ve not actually tried any of the coffees yet but believe me, it won’t be long!

On November 5th I went to a baby shower. I’ve never been to a baby shower before but it was so much fun. It was all planned for them by another good friend and she did fun games, a quiz and arranged a stunning venue which is where this picture was taken. We went to The Vintage Tea Room in Fareham. I’d never been there before and it was so lovely. We had sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, then the most delicious slices of cake. I’d definitely visit again.

I went in to Southampton and did some shopping in November. I went to John Lewis in West Quay to look at the Buster’s Garden range and bought these two cuties. Well you all know I have an obsession with foxes. There’s more about these guys coming in my Christmas Haul posts. They start on December 1st so be sure to check them out.

It wouldn’t be my blog or a monthly roundup with out a picture of the Solent now would it? I still sometimes look at this view literally a two minute walk from my front door and think “Wow, I live here!” It still doesn’t feel real sometimes but here we are heading towards our second Christmas here.

Another bit of Christmas shopping! Again, there’s more information coming up on these in my Christmas Haul posts so keep your eyes peeled for those.

Last week was the Gosport Half Marathon held by the Gosport Road Runners. I had such a good time marshalling at the race and did a post about it here.

Finally, whilst visiting a local garden centre they had reindeer! They were so lovely and you were able to stroke them and hand feed them. Naturally I had a go at feeding one. It felt very magical to be hand feeding one of Santa’s Reindeer 😉

October Roundup

My October roundup is going to feel sparse. I feel like October passed me by in a blur and now here I find myself in November already!

October started whilst we were still in Wales but it was soon back to business and back to work. We had our Christmas meeting where we decide what sort of things we’ll be making with the children over the festive period. We had the meeting in Costa (yes!) and I had a scrummy Toffee Apple Hot Chocolate. If you’ve not tried this, its a must!

img_91511

I was ill with a terrible cold and chest infection in October too, I still don’t feel completely over it if I’m honest but Costa is always guaranteed to cheer me up. It’s beginning to look like my October is sponsored by Costa!

img_91721
I went shopping with a work friend in October in Portsmouth. We were looking for the Disney Primark hats for us both and another work colleague. Absolutely gutted to say we couldn’t find them (and still can’t) but it’s cute right?

hat

Speaking of cute, we went for a coffee. We tried Starbucks but their coffee machines weren’t working (??) and then went to Costa which was absolutely rammed. I’m guessing because of Starbucks being a no go so we went to Debenhams coffee shop where we had cute Gingerbread Lattes with a little chocolate Gingerbread man in the top! So cute and a fraction of the price.

img_92001

October ended with me going to the Great South Run with one of my volunteering friends from parkrun. So many of our parkrun runners were participating in the race so we went along to cheer them up and hand out jelly babies. I made this sign and posted it on social media so they knew where and how to spot us.

img_92041

It was so much fun and we managed to spot so many of our parkrunners but it was difficult as there were so many runners. I’ve never been to a race like it but it was a fantastic atmosphere and I saw one of my favourite athletes Tirunesh Dibaba who won the women’s race. Afterwards I watched it back on TV and managed to spot myself taking this picture of her!

dibaba

Not the greatest photo but you can see it’s her. Such an amazing athlete.

I think that’s it for my October roundup. Below are my other October posts, have a read if you missed them first time round.

September Roundup

September seems to have been and gone in a flash and as a result I don’t feel like I’ve done much but never the less. Here is my September roundup!

img_8989

Firstly in September I won a competition! I’ve never won anything before in my life so I was pretty amazed when I won this gorgeous palette on a giveaway over at Sophie’s Blog

img_9118

One evening after work we decided to go to JoJo Gelato in Fareham. I had this scrummy Nutella and Cookie supreme crepe. It was so good, especially after a hard day at work.

waitrose_01

We also visited the Waitrose Farm Shop. Here is the post about our visit.

img_9016

In Lee-on-the-Solent there was a super low tide on 18th September. I’m still discovering new things about living by the sea and this was one of them. The photo doesn’t do it justice but the sea really was a lot further out than usual.

img_9030 img_9060

At the end of September we went to Wales for 4 nights. I’ve never visited Wales before so it was nice to explore somewhere new. There’s a more detailed post to follow.

In September I did 8 blog posts which I think might be a record for me! If you missed any, they’re linked below:

August Roundup

I know this post is a little late. Really?! It’s the 12th September already!! Time sure is flying and I’m glad September is here. I love the Autumn. It’s my favourite season and not just because this is when Starbucks start serving their Pumpkin Spiced Latte again! However apparently this week is going to be a heat wave so maybe it’s not Autumn just yet!

npxf3081

So here’s my August in pictures

Top Left & Middle Left: Now that I’ve passed my driving test I gave motorway driving a go and drove to Sheffield. I felt like a tourist in my own city and took pictures of pretty buildings and architecture. In the top picture is Millennium Square that has the car park that is affectionately known as the cheese grater! The middle left is Millennium Square again facing the Winter Gardens.

Bottom Left: A new rule was introduced at work where you can no longer wear nail varnish but gel nail varnish is ok. As I like my nails to look pretty it was time to decide. Do I spend lots in the salon or buy the kit and do my own gel nails? I decided to buy the kit and did my own gel nails. The first attempt came out pretty good. I was really pleased.

Middle Bottom: My lovely car. I picked her up on 5th August. There are other posts about her on here though so I won’t go on.

Bottom Right: Just another lovely beach shot taken from parkrun. So lucky to have this view on my doorstep.

Large picture: I was Run Director on the #IAmTeamGB day. There’s a blog post coming up on Friday about the run so be sure to check it out when it goes live at 8am!

July Roundup

roundup

July has been and gone in a flash! This Roundup is very parkrun focussed! Starting with the top left and centre picture is the cake and card I received for volunteering at parkrun 50 times! When people run it 50 times it’s something of an achievement. I wasn’t sure volunteering counted as much but it turns out it sure did as my friends gave me these wonderful gifts.

The top right picture is when my nails were looking good. This must have taken 10 coats to get a good solid coverage but they looked beautiful once done. The colour is Alaska and it’s part of the Rimmel 60 second shine collection.

The middle left picture was taken at the graduation ceremony at work. The purple cap and gown ties in nicely with the purple in the parkrun pictures! At the graduation it was time to say goodbye to our little ones going off to school in September. I had to split myself in two this day as it was the graduation ceremony and party in the afternoon and on the same day it was my local parkrun’s 1st Birthday so there was the run in the morning and the picnic in  the afternoon. I decided to attend the graduation ceremony in the morning and the picnic in the afternoon.

As you can see from the remaining two pictures, the 1st Birthday was commemorated with cake and cupcakes! It was so lovely to get so many of us together and I even received a certificate for the most tasks performed at parkrun!

The end of July has certainly seen the weather perk up. Summer is finally here.

Before you leave and we head in to August why not check out my July blog posts?

June Roundup

june

June has seen some beautiful weather but also some crazy weather with horrendous rain, thunderstorms and flooding!

June has seen my garden continue to bloom. I love looking out there and seeing what’s new. It feels like each day something new opens up at the moment.

IMG_8524[1]

I popped over to Portsmouth on the Gosport ferry and took this picture of the Spinnaker Tower. From what I can gather the locals have mixed feelings about the Tower. One day I’d love to go up to the viewing platform at the top. The pictures I’ve seen show the view from up there is immense.

I received my employee of the month voucher to spend at West Quay and bought these beauties. I love them.

IMG_8562[1]

We took a drive up to Portsdown Hill in Portsmouth and I took this picture. I wish I’d taken my digital camera up there but still thought this snap on my iPhone showed the amazing view quite well. This overlooks both Portsmouth and Gosport.

IMG_8568[1]

I snapped this picture of Gary the Event Director of our local parkrun doing the Run Director brief. Next week marks a year since it started and I’m so proud to be a part of it. It’s become a big part of my life and the people there have too. A year ago I only knew work colleagues down here and now I know many more thanks to parkrun. It’s the anniversary run on 2nd July and I’m gutted I have to miss it due to a work commitment. I’ll hopefully make it to the picnic afterwards though and hopefully I won’t miss too much.

So that’s my June in pictures. What was your favourite part of June? Do you have anything special planned for July?

April Roundup

April has been a pretty good month. There has been some lovely weather which always makes everything seem that little bit brighter.

april16_001

Starting  top left and moving clockwise:

This week just gone was a special parkrun. We celebrated the life of Giles, one of the founding members of our local parkrun who sadly lost his life to cancer. Gosport Road Runners did a takeover and provided pacers for the run.

My 25 tshirt finally arrived. I’ve now volunteered 40 times at my local parkrun. It’s a shame you don’t get any more tshirts other than the 25 one but hey its free so I’m not going to complain.

Another beach shot. I just can’t get over how pretty where I live is. Sorry!

Beautiful weather called for a walk along the beach and an ice cream to finish. It was actually quite breezy when I went for the walk which is why I didn’t notice I was catching the sun!

A shot just capturing the blue sky at parkrun a couple of weeks ago.

My garden really seems to have come alive this month and we have lots of pretty bluebells. I’m not naturally green fingered but I’m doing my best to keep the garden looking tidy and weed free.

A selfie taken before attending a work colleagues 21st Birthday. Good lighting and a snapchat filter make pretty pictures!

And finally a Navy ship down at Stokes Bay at sunset. There was some sort of practice going on that drew quite a crowd.

Finally I wanted to link to this video filmed by Mike at our latest parkrun where we celebrated Giles’ life. This is filmed on a drone and makes our parkrun look even more perfect! It’s definitely worth a little watch.

March Roundup

As we’re coming to the end of March it definitely feels like Spring is in the air now and I think this months pictures reflect this. All of these photographs are taken from my Instagram feel free to give me a cheeky follow! Now on to the roundup!

march_003

  1. I won employee of the month for February and the prize is a £100 Debenhams voucher. One of the things I treated myself to was a new OPI. This one is called Princesses Rule and is so pretty, pink and girly! I love it.
  2. This month I have become obsessed with having fresh flowers in the house. This is the Spring Bouquet by Tesco. I still have these a week later and they’re looking as perfect as when I bought them.
  3. Someone complained that my Instagram is all beaches, nails and sunsets. I won’t apologise for living in a very photogenic location.
  4. We went to London this month but unfortunately I was too ill to enjoy it fully. A lovely Costa Coffee helped cheer me up whilst we were there though!
  5. More fresh flowers, this time from the local florist. I love tulips, they’re one of my favourite flowers.
  6. I’ve been doing lots of reading up on how to make a good blog, one tip was to have a recent photograph of yourself and so here you have it. I used a snapchat filter to make my skin look better! Not got me on snapchat yet? I’m @bigmugoftea on there too.
  7. Daffodils are a sure sign of Spring and I think they look fantastic in my Kilner jars. I’m currently obsessed with Kilner!
  8. Just another beach shot. It’s been so warm lately I’ve spent a lot of time down there.

April brings with it even better weather (hopefully) and lighter evenings!

February in Pictures

I’m a little late in posting this but here is my roundup of February in pictures. I can not believe it’s already March! It only seems two minutes since Christmas was here but now there’s a definite feel of Spring in the air and I’m so ready for warm evenings and new blooms.

feb16_006

  1. February saw some great sunsets. This picture is taken at Stokes Bay, the next bay along from ours.
  2. I got two new candles from a local shop with a 25% discount! I’ve never used Village Candle before. Review to follow!
  3. In February we went to eat out a couple of times in Portsmouth which houses the Spinnaker Tower. I thought this angle was different to how you would usually see it.
  4. There were some gorgeous days in February where we saw sunshine and blue skies. I enjoyed getting out and about!
  5. I made a good effort with my nails in February, something which has fell by the way side so far in March. I must try harder!
  6. Whilst walking along the beach I found a heart shaped stone. I pocketed it and brought it home to add to my little seaside display in the hall.
  7. Despite February having some lovely days there was also strong winds and rain. When I took this photo I was trying to capture the waves crashing in. Usually the Solent is reasonably still.
  8. One last sunset to finish off 😉

Here’s hoping March turns out to be just as pretty.
