As you know I’m a big Disney fan and today is Mickey Mouse’ Birthday!
I thought I’d celebrate the day by sharing some of my Mickey pictures!
We had a Mickey and Minnie Mouse wedding cake topper on our wedding cake. We’d discussed getting married at Disney World but knew it’d be too far for our elderly family members. So we just had a touch of Disney.
Taken on our honeymoon. We were at Walt Disney World December 2008-January 2009. This was one of the parades that comes through Magic Kingdom.
Another picture from one of our holidays to Florida. This was one of the shows they do in front of Cinderella’s castle at Magic Kingdom.
Mickey at Disney on Ice. The performances are so good, especially since the skaters are all in large costumes!
I hope you enjoyed my post October Memories Through The Years last month. I’ve decided to make this a regular feature of my blog so without further ado, here are my November Memories Through the Years.
On 21st November 2005 I graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a BA Honors in Early Childhood Studies. Random fact about my graduation…Malorie Blackman, the children’s/Young Adult author was given an Honorary Doctorate at my Graduation ceremony.
As the weather turns more wintery in the North, snow comes early. Here’s a picture of the heavy snowfall we had in Sheffield. I took a picture of the tree to show just how much had stuck to it. If there was that much on the tree, you can imagine how much was on the floor! Knee high snow is something I don’t miss since moving to the South.
Not going to lie, I’m a huge Disney fan and going to see Disney on Ice was something I always looked forward to. I think I went 4 years in a row. Two years we were front row and I managed to get a decent picture of Minnie and Mickey. It’s hard to get pictures as they’re constantly moving so everything comes out a blur!
November 2014 gets two pictures. The first, as we were still living in the North we were enjoying walks planned by Activity Sheffield. We met so many different people and got to explore some new parts of Sheffield we were yet to discover evening after living there for over 30 years! Below is a picture of Rivelin Valley. I absolutely love the lighting in this picture. There’s no filter here, just lovely Autumn sunshine.
However, November 2014 was the start of us moving to the South and we went to explore the area. Below is my first glimpse of Lee-on-the-Solent where I’m now happily settled.
Our first Christmas in the South and I’m afraid I’m that person that has their tree up by the end of November. We had a real 9ft Christmas tree.
So there you have it, my favourite November memories. Here’s hoping I make new memories this November
Cath Kidston have announced that their next collaboration with Disney will be a Peter Pan collection. As a fan of Tinkerbell this pleases me greatly. However, past experience shows, I’m not likely to get much from the collection if anything as everything sells out so quickly.
The collection launches online on Thursday 21st September at 7pm. This time it looks like a large collection including items in bags, clothing, homeware and Cath Kids! There is currently a preview online that can be viewed here. All images in this post are courtesy of the Cath Kidston website.
I really like the Tinkerbell polka dot dress. It even looks like this comes with a Peter Pan collar! Very clever. They are also bringing out a skirt.
Now Cath Kidston bags are my thing and I couldn’t choose just one so I’m going to be sharing them all, starting with this large navy tote. It has the iconic image of Peter Pan, Wendy, John and Michael as they fly over the London skyline to Neverland.
This rucksack will be mine! I have the original London print this is based on as a rucksack so I need to add this to my collection.
These bags are so cute. I can’t be sure but I think the small silver star bag/purse is probably a Cath Kids bag. The navy star bag/pouch at the front looks like either a small structured bag or maybe a foldaway shopper bag. But can we just take in the Tinkerbell clutch bag? That is beautiful!
The home items are lovely and I definitely want the London print cup that matches the rucksack. I also like the notebooks and pencil case. I probably wouldn’t order the cushion or crockery but that’s just because it wouldn’t match my house! Although I do need some new crockery!
The Cath Kids items are so cute! I’d quite like the nightdress, Tinkerbell backpack and dress myself!
What are your favourite pieces from the collection?

I know I’m getting to this April roundup a little late. In fact, we’re almost half way through May already but hey, better late than never right?!
In April I went to the cinema for the first time in over two years. Of course it was to see Beauty and the Beast! I was dubious about the remake, wondering if it would be as good as the original animated cartoon version from 1991 that I remember watching over and over on VHS as a child. In truth, the remake was wonderful and every bit as magical as the original if not more due to the progression in film making. I was enthralled from start to finish.
I also left my job in April and one of my leaving gifts from my colleague was this wonderful chip cup!
I got lots of lovely gifts from my colleagues and the children and I got lots of flowers! I had 7 vases brimming with beautiful blooms! Below is just one of them. I love tulips, they’re so pretty and vibrant.
Of course in April I’ve also taken some beach pictures when I’ve been out walking. I’m still determined to keep gaining fitness by walking more often.
I love how the sun is reflecting off the wet sand in the second picture. Sun set at the beach is the best. As I’ve been doing lots of walking I’ve also discovered some new places in and around where I live. Below are photos of Fort Gilkicker that was built in 1863 and is soon to become “luxury homes” and the Haslar sea wall where you can see across to Portsmouth Harbour.
As I’ve been doing lots of walking I wanted a new way of recording my walks as for some reason, despite having a full battery my phone will die when using apps like Strava and say it has no battery, thus losing my data. Then, annoyingly, when I get home and plug it in my phone shows a full charge again! I hunted high and low for my old Garmin Forerunner 410 but despite being sure I brought it from Sheffield with us, I couldn’t find it anywhere. I researched a few different tracking watches and settled on the Garmin Forerunner 35. It’s simple to use, tracks heart rate and has GPS. I’m pretty pleased with it and am loving tracking all the stats again.
I’ve also continued to volunteer at my local parkrun. I decided to go back to marshalling as I usually do a funnel role. I loved being back out on the course cheering everyone on. I was put back in my old marshalling spot of the playground which just so happens to have a café right at the side of it so it was coffee and marshalling for me!
Speaking of parkrun we’ve also had confirmation of the junior parkrun we’ve been setting up. Stokes Bay junior parkrun will start on 4th June! We’re all so excited about this. The trial is on Saturday afternoon for us to try out all the equipment and make sure everything works before we do it for real. Afterwards we have to have a training session on being an RD at a Junior parkrun. I’m guessing this will cover some safeguarding aspects with it being juniors.
I think that’s it for my April update! I have some exciting news too but that’s for another post!
Not had enough? Why not look at my other post from April…
For some reason this post didn’t publish when it was meant to and I didn’t even notice! Bad blogger! So I know it’s late but I thought I’d put it out there since I went to the effort of writing it and collating the pictures so here’s my late review of 2016.
My first ever attempt at a French Manicure turned out surprisingly well.
The sunset at Lee on Solent.
These nails actually don’t look that good at all *blush* but it’s the best from February.
Sunset at Stokes Bay. No filter was needed for this photograph.
Best Blog Post:
February saw the launch of this blog. I’m choosing How I became a parkrun Volunteer as my best blog post. parkrun is something that means a lot to me so it’s a reflection of who I am.
I love how pink, sparkly and girly OPI’s Princesses Rule is
The Solent. I remember taking this photo. It was such a warm day for March.
At the end of April Giles, one of the founding members of parkrun and chairman of Gosport Road Runners passed away. People were asked to wear their club vests to the run. I’m not a member of a running club but parkrun is the club I belong to. I didn’t know Giles well at all, I only met him a couple of times but he was adored by many.
First ice cream of the year. April was so warm!
The Hello Kitty/OPI collaboration. This is Spoken From The Heart
Best Blog Post: I got a lot of good feedback on my post parkrun – More than meets the eye People just don’t get to see this side of parkrun and people told me this made them appreciate their parkrun teams even more.
New Look Pure Gel is the best home gel nail varnish I’ve found.
Spinnaker Tower taken from the Gosport Ferry
Best Blog Posts: In June I did my own Travel Guide for London,Scotland and Florida. I tried to include some of the none tourist sites so there were new things for people to try.
I reached my 50 milestone for volunteering at parkrun.
Best Blog Post:
This is the blog post that has the most views on my blog – It’s the information post of when the Disney X Cath Kidston collaboration was announced.
In August I learnt to do my own gel nails.
In August I passed my driving test and drove myself to my home town, Sheffield!
I know some people don’t like these type of posts so feel free to skip by. I however love seeing what other people got. It gives me ideas for presents to ask for with my Birthday being on the way. I’m not going to detail all of my presents but below are some of my favourite presents.
My friends know I love Disney. These were part of my presents from two work colleagues. The drinks bottle is hard to photograph but it’s Mary Poppins and on one side has Mary’s silhouette and the other says “Practically Perfect In Every Way” I love Mary Poppins, it’s one of my favourite movies. My friend popped a coin in the Mickey Mouse purse so hopefully now it will never be empty.
How cute is this Minnie Mouse watch?! My mum got me this as a present I could open. I ask for vouchers from my mum a lot. My birthday is right after Christmas so all my gifts come at once. If I ask for vouchers I can then get myself things through the year. It helps stretch out the presents a little more. It’s from Avon and has a rubber strap which I like because in my work I can sometimes get messy and rubber straps are much easier to clean!
Speaking of work, here is part of a present one of the children from work got me. I absolutely love it. It’s very chintz and Cath Kidston-esque so it’s perfect for me, and the statement is all true hehe.
Whilst we’re talking of Cath Kidston it’s time to bring on the big guns. Here’s one of 3 Cath Kidston bags. It’s the Leopard Flower backpack. I was lusting after this a while ago but it went out of stock quickly. I saw on Twitter just before Christmas that it had come back in stock and dropped a few hints to my husband. It has so many pockets, this is going to become my new work bag.
Now for one of my absolute favourites. The Mickey in London Disney X Cath Kidston backpack. I love it. I was gutted when the pre sale took place and I had everything in my basket but the website was so busy I couldn’t check out and so I sat watching things sell out and one by one disappear from my basket. My husband got the email there was more in stock whilst I was at work and got straight on it and ordered this and…
This! The Disney X Cath Kidston Minnie and Mickey Mouse spot Mini Satchel. It’s perfection. I absolutely love it. It’s just the right size for when you’re popping out and don’t want to take a big handbag with you.
So there you have it. I’ve been one lucky girl this year.
What was your favourite Christmas present you recieved?
Blogging about why Autumn is the best season is a bit of a blogging cliché isn’t it. However I genuinely do love Autumn…and Winter. I prefer the colder months, maybe because I was born in Winter? Who knows but it’s definitely my favourite time of year and here’s why:
The crisp cold weather and changing colours
It’s the first glimpse of things to come. You feel that little bite in the air and can start layering up clothes. Everything looks pretty as it starts to change colour. I love walking in the woods in this weather crunching through the leaves, or now, going for walks along the beach. You can finally get out and about and not have to worry about sun cream and coming back a hot sweaty mess! What’s not to like?!
The Coffee shops up their game
Coffee shops really up their game in Autumn starting with Starbucks. I’m a Costa girl through and through but for those couple of weeks that Pumpkin Spiced Lattes come out I switch allegiance (but only for those few weeks) They also change their cups and then the Christmas ranges start. I’m not going to comment on that just now though as that’s a whole other post.
The warming food
Autumn is the perfect time to make use of your slow cooker to make casseroles, stews, soups and chillis. All those warming foods and you can actually make them pretty healthy too if you add lots of veggies and butternut squash! Then when you’ve eaten all the veggies, you can drink more hot chocolate! Autumn is great because you can drink hot chocolate guilt free because hey, you’re just using it to warm up right?!
It’s the start of the celebrations
Halloween, Bonfire Night, Black Friday hey we don’t celebrate it but I’ll take the sales it brings any day and then the lead up to Christmas, it’s just the best time and the decorations are fun.
September seems to have been and gone in a flash and as a result I don’t feel like I’ve done much but never the less. Here is my September roundup!
Firstly in September I won a competition! I’ve never won anything before in my life so I was pretty amazed when I won this gorgeous palette on a giveaway over at Sophie’s Blog
One evening after work we decided to go to JoJo Gelato in Fareham. I had this scrummy Nutella and Cookie supreme crepe. It was so good, especially after a hard day at work.
We also visited the Waitrose Farm Shop. Here is the post about our visit.
In Lee-on-the-Solent there was a super low tide on 18th September. I’m still discovering new things about living by the sea and this was one of them. The photo doesn’t do it justice but the sea really was a lot further out than usual.
At the end of September we went to Wales for 4 nights. I’ve never visited Wales before so it was nice to explore somewhere new. There’s a more detailed post to follow.
In September I did 8 blog posts which I think might be a record for me! If you missed any, they’re linked below:
So the first of the Disney X Cath Kidston collaboration has launched and already some of the items are sold out. They’ve released the Winnie the Pooh prints first. I’ll not be ordering anything as I’m holding out for the Minnie and Mickey items but here are my favourites from the range.
Balloon spot raglan dress and elasticated waist skirt
The dress is £75 and the skirt is £40. I love the cut of the dress and the cute cap sleeves but also love how if you have just the skirt you can team it with a plain top so it’s not as much print all at once.
A Day in the Hundred Acre Wood Placement Sweat £35
A cute design on a sweater that’ll be perfect for keeping warm now the days are turning chillier. This is Limited Edition so be sure to keep your eyes out for it coming back in stock.
Balloon spot mini reversible messenger bag £35
I have a couple of this style of bag from Cath Kidston and they are so perfect for when you have a lot to carry. They’re surprisingly roomy and with it being reversible, its like having two bags in one!
Bramley Sprig modal PJ set £40
I love the flowers on these and it’s a true Cath Kidston print. These are Limited Edition too so grab them while you can.
Balloon Spot Breakfast Cup & Saucer £16
Cath Kidston crockery lasts so well. I have a few cups and saucers in various London prints and they look lovely on display but wash well and are sturdy.
There are also home ware and baby items available but these 6 are my favourites. I’m so excited to see what they release next!
The other night my phone started going crazy. Notifications were flooding in to all platforms of social media. My friends know me so well they were alerting me to the fact that two of my favourite companies were joining forces. Disney and Cath Kidston!!! This makes me so excited.
The first pictures released on Cath Kidston’s Instagram were of Winnie the Pooh. My heart sank a little, I’m not a huge Winnie the Pooh fan but then..there it was…a Minnie Mouse print!
I’m also loving that there is a Polka Dot Mickey print too!
All photos courtesy of Cath Kidston’s Instagram. This was just a sneak peek at what they’re doing but then one of my favourite Instagrammers @disneyfind posted this little beauty!
I pretty much need everything from the top row! And the bottom right picture is perfection. Some of the Cath Kidston accessories will go perfectly with the bag there.
I literally can not wait to find out more. Hurry up September!
